We explored the Isle of Skye today. The weather has been great the last two days. Sunny, fairly warm and no rain. One nice thing about going north is that the days last longer. The sun rises earlier and sets later. Currently the sun sets about one hour later than it does in Florida. It gives you a lot more time to explore.
We went to see Dunvegan Castle. It is the seat of the Clan MacLeod. It is the only Highland fortress to have been continuously occupied by the same family for 800 years. The current Chieftan is Hugh Magnus. He divides his time living between Dunvegan and London. The castle was first built in the 13th century and was a fortified site. In the 19th century the whole castle was remodeled in a mock-medieval style. The castle is built on an elevated rock overlooking an inlet on the eastern shore of Loch Dunvegan, a sea loch.

After we left the castle we drove on some very narrow roads. Luckily the roads had many pull off areas so that oncoming traffic could pull off and the two cars could pass each other. When you weren't dodging cars, you were avoiding sheep. The sheep are free range and just walk on the road as they like.
The following pics are where the Isle of Skye meets the Atlantic Ocean.
We at dinner tonight at the Isles Inn. It can get pretty crowded in these pubs.
